Drug Addiction Treatment Options

USA Drug Rehab can refer you to one or all of these available services if necessary. We have developed a relationship with service providers all across North America, which means we pass this experience and knowledge on to you.

In the field of substance abuse treatment there are a great many services available that recovering addicts may need to be successful in defeating their addiction and regain control of their lives.

Let’s look at rehabilitation as if it were a board game. In order to win you must successfully navigate each space on the board. This doesn’t necessarily mean you must land on each space, only that you must finish the game. The spaces available are as follows

Pre-rehabilitative Care
In some case addicts’ conditions are so far gone that they will require some services before
they will be admitted to a residential rehabilitation facility.

Intervention is an action taken by the loved ones of an addict in an effort change the
course of the addict’s life and encourages the addict to make the decision to improve his or
her own life. An intervention’s only purpose is to have an addict arrive safely at a Substance Abuse Facility and begin recovery. Intervention is a popular approach to addiction these days especially since the arrival of the A&E television series Intervention. Intervention is an action taken by the loved ones of an addict in an effort change the course of the addict’s life.
  Medically Assisted Detox
Medically Assisted Detox is only necessary when a physical addiction to a substance creates health risks to an individual who would like to discontinue using that substance. Therefore it
will be necessary in these cases for an addict to be placed under the care of a medical doctor
to supervise his or her detoxification.
  Rapid Detox
Rapid Detox is a form of detox developed strictly for opiate (heroin, oxycottin, or morphine)
users. This is a process where an opiate addict is sedated throughout the treatment so as
not to have to endure the physical pain associated with “cold turkey” heroin detox.
  Buprenorphine/Suboxone Detox
Buprenorphine and Suboxone are treatments for opiate detoxification. They are new
substances which can help ease the withdrawal symptoms from opiates. They are a two-part substance which both blocks absorption of opiates and eases the withdrawal symptoms.
  Rehabilitative Care
Inpatient rehabilitation is the most critical phase of one’s rehabilitation. This is where new life skills are learned and old behaviors are confronted. This is where the change happens and an individual is actually rehabilitated or returned to an earlier healthy state. There are quite
literally thousands of Inpatient rehabilitation facilities across North America but they
themselves fall into only five different categories. These programs can range anywhere from
28 days to one year or more in length.
  Behavior Modification
Treatment is characterized by group confrontation. These are strict modified 12-step
programs, wherein spirit is broken down in order to rebuild from a clean slate. They are
usually government funded..
  Dual Diagnosis
Dual Diagnosis facilities are created for those addicts who have been diagnosed with an
addiction disorder as well as an underlying and co-occurring mental disorder.
Treatment is modeled after the 12-step Alcoholics Anonymous program, rooted in the belief
that addiction is an incurable disease to be managed rather than cured/conquered.
Mild in nature, addicts seek help through spiritual guidance and hard work.
Treatment is non-medical, non-religious and holistic in approach. It pays specific attention
to the physical side of addiction in order to eliminate the symptoms of addiction. Addiction is classified as a curable condition, rather than an incurable disease.
  Post-rehabilitative Care
These are treatment options that can be done upon the completion of residential rehabilitation program to ensure that addicts and their families have continued success with their recovery.
  Family Counseling
Family Counseling is strongly recommended where a family member has made the decision
to undergo residential rehabilitation as this is a family problem and it affects each family
member differently. The focus here is to make a change as a family unit rather than place
the blame solely on one member. Family Counseling will help to ensure that the environment
the addict returns to after treatment has changed
  Out Patient Rehabilitation
Out patient rehabilitation is a form of care that exists but would not be conceived of as
primary care in the vast majority of cases. Out patient care is not well supervised as the client doesn’t reside full time in the facility; rather, he or she comes each day for counseling
services. This is ideal for youths or people whose addictions are very new and not yet
developed. Out patient care is also ideal as an after care, relapse prevention situation once
a residential treatment facility has been completed.
Recovery from addiction is a process that begins with honesty and a desire to change.
Self-destructive behaviors like the abuse of drugs and alcohol lead many people to wish for a
better and more secure life. There is hope if you have a problem with alcohol or drug addiction. USA Drug Rehab can assist you in locating an addiction treatment center by means of our
free drug rehabilition placement program.
